Appetite: I'm Not Full Yet Part 2 (Sunday Sermon Notes)
Part 2
A blessed life is a hungry life. It’s ongoing! It goes on and on…it’s not when you feel like BUT it’s ON GOING!! NOT just when everything is going good…it’s ongoing…#continuous! It’s an intense metaphorical longing for righteousness. It’s spiritual sustenance
Matthew 5:6.
You can be broke but you’re blessed.
It’s NOT about what I have in my bank account, it’s about WHO I AM!
Blessed is a characteristic thing!!
You can be in a battle right now BUT you’re blessed.
You can be a little bothered right now BUT you are blessed!! Why? Because our hunger for God keeps us in a blessed state! Everything is not dandelions and roses, but we are blessed when we are hungry for the Lord!!
Don’t let “things” take you out of alignment. Something can quickly take you out of alignment means you are NOT hungry enough.
Question: Are you hungry enough?
Question: What are you aligned with?
Some let minor things become major in our life. Don’t let things and people bother your blessed life.
What keeps us having a blessed life? To hunger and thirst after righteousness is what keeps you having a blessed life. Matthew 5:6 (ESV)
One of the hardest things for believers to do is to die daily! One of the hardest things for believers to do is to shut up when HE tells you to shut up! Some lay down their cross to make their point.
Appetite Question: Are you hungry and thirsty enough?
One of believer’s BIGGEST distractions is consistency. It’s supposed to be a good thing but when you focus on the routine instead of the love Christ is offering you, you do not follow through. How many times have you stopped something because you focused on the consistency of the routine instead of the goal you were trying to accomplish???
Ex. Beginning of the year commitments to self w/no follow through. So, we quit because we allow consistency to be our distraction.
You must be hungry AND thirsty after righteousness to be the routine.
Some focus on God and NOT the routine.
Question: What are you hungry for the most??? Look at what you are hungry for the most!
Dig into what’s going to bless your life and NOT what’s going to mess up your life.
LET THIS SINK A LITTLE BIT: You are filled with what you are hungry for. Let it digest.
Flashback: Some are consuming BUT not digesting. Which leads to constipation.
Question: How many times have you said you are going to do it and don’t do it?? This leads to spiritual constipation.
1 Corinthians 1:30 (ESV)
To hunger and thirst after righteousness is to hunger and thirst after Jesus, and to hunger and thirst after Jesus is to hunger and thirst after righteousness.
Some look for things that make them happy, make them feel blessed BUT remain unhappy. Because we seek, we thirst, we hunger after unfulfilling “Things.”
You’re NOT stuck!
You’re NOT empty!
You are hungry BUT your appetite is in the wrong place.
There is a hunger that will NEVER be satisfied outside of Jesus.
There is a THIRST that Jesus can quench.
He told the woman to come drink from this well. The well that NEVER runs dry!?? John 4 (ESV).
Out of your belly SHALL flow RIVERS of LIVING water! God’s overflowing/abundance
John 7:38
You must be thirsty for something for something to fill you. What are you thirsting for?
GET hungry/thirsty for the Lord!
What’s the symptoms of unhappiness:
There's a time and place for everything. Some things will make us happy, some things will make us sad, some things will make us disappointed, and some things will discourage.
Is there someone you know who consistently demonstrates a life attitude of unhappiness, discontentment, and dissatisfaction, always seeking more and never content with what God has provided? The enemy uses unconfessed or suppressed sin as one of the tricks against us.
Side Bar: Scripture reading Psalm 1:1-3 (Righteous vs Unrighteousness).
2 Corinthians 13:5 (ESV)
First spirit you need to test is YO-self!! What’s MY motives? Christ Jesus blesses those that walk the path of righteousness.
Sin means➡️➡️➡️missing the mark!
Some are not living a blessed life and are living a life of unhappiness because they suppress those they need to forgive.
Unforgiveness can go from hurt to an idolatrous grudge. We suppress it because we don’t want to forgive them.
There are two things that can stop our hunger and thirst for the Lord: Ourselves and the tricks of the enemy.
DEEP PAUSE: THE FLESH cannot be satisfied.
A blessed life is one that consistently pursues the Lord.
You can accept Him and still not know Him.
The more you know about Jesus, the more you are conformable to Jesus and NOT to the world.
Some cannot/will not allow the Work to be done in them because they are control freaks.
The one who fits around my schedule.
If you know...then you know
Everything that is spiritual is NOT God.
Question: do you want a blessed life? Do you want a filled life? Do you feel stuck?
Some need to backtrack to find the ONE issue that is causing the many issues.
Revival is NOT having church 7 days a week.
Message: If your pursuit of righteousness is mediocre, expect mediocre results.
FYI: Everything that is spiritual is NOT God.
Some folks are not running from God; they are just NOT reaching for Him. Some need to reach for GOD.
We look like a part-time believer but expect full-time benefits.
